What is a Specialist Tutor?

A specialist tutor provides tailored support to young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN). These tutors offer individualised assistance to help young people reengage with learning.

We’ve been placing tutors in roles since 2018, supporting young people with the following needs:

  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
  • Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)
  • Unaccompanied Asylum Seekers/Refugees
  • Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD)
  • Multiple Needs

Specialist Tutor Roles We Require

SEN / SEND Tutor

A SEN/SEND tutor is an educator specialising in supporting young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) or Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), providing personalised support to help them succeed academically. They work closely with the young person, families, and professionals to create a supportive learning environment.

MLD / SLD Specialist

A MLD/SLD specialist tutor is an educator with expertise in supporting young people with Multiple Learning Disabilities (MLD) or Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD). They offer targeted guidance tailored to each young person’s unique learning challenges, helping them overcome obstacles and achieve academic success.

ESOL / EAL Tutor

An ESOL/EAL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) or EAL (English as an Additional Language) tutor is an educator who specialises in teaching English language skills to individuals whose first language is not English. They focus on speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills, using tailored methods to help learners gain proficiency and confidence in English communication.
