Alternative Provision that goes beyond traditional tutoring
Where tutors’ skills and young people's needs harmonise
In our approach, tutors' skills align with young people's needs, creating a nurturing, emotionally safe environment that fosters learning. Beyond personalised 1:1 tutoring, relational learning emphasises trust-based relationships, validating experiences, and respecting individuality, particularly crucial for those with adverse childhood experiences and SEND. This supportive atmosphere encourages students to freely express themselves, enhancing engagement and motivation. Trauma-informed practices prioritise safety, trustworthiness, collaboration, and empowerment to foster resilience and improve educational outcomes.
What is Relational Learning in this context?
In a traditional 1:1 tutoring setup, the focus is primarily on guiding students through procedures to find correct answers. However, in relational learning, our tutors prioritise understanding students' feelings and anxieties about the subject, often using real-life examples to create connections. By fostering trust and encouraging dialogue, students are empowered to explain their thought processes, enhancing their understanding beyond just finding the right answer.
For Young People
We offer personalised 1:1 and group support with highly experienced teachers using a trauma-informed approach. Through Relational Learning, we create meaningful connections and interactive learning experiences.
Our mentors guide and encourage our young people, helping them to unlock their potential and navigate their unique path to success. Whether they're transitioning back into mainstream education, improving attendance, or working towards Functional Skills qualifications, we're here to support them every step of the way.
